Our
Philosophy for Assisting DMCs
DMCs
are facing more demanding challenges than ever before. Changes
such as shorter lead times, rapidly advancing technology,
demand for higher levels of service, reduction in travel and
entertainment and services going in-house are requiring DMCs
to rethink and retool the way they do business. We have developed
and utilized a process to assist DMCs in making the changes
necessary to be both competitive and profitable in this challenging
business environment.
Process
Goal
The
goal of our process is to assist you in improving profitability,
effectiveness, and efficiency and making the organizational
changes necessary to meet your specific challenges. These
may include, but not be limited to:
- growing
your company
- improving
specific processes
- repositioning
your company in the marketplace
- enhancing
employee effectiveness
- gaining
control of the workload.
Process
Objectives
- Understand
your overall goal for the company
- Assess
your company's strengths & weaknesses
- Establish
specific goals & objectives
- Develop
a plan for instituting measurable, observable improvements
- Provide
follow-up & support services for the successful implementation
of the plan
Approach
- Prior
to the formal assessment process, meet with the owner(s)
to gain a general understanding of current conditions as
well as that which should be changed or achieved.
- Review
all pertinent information (i.e., organizational charts,
job descriptions, process flows, operating procedures, employee
manuals, management information reports, etc.)
- On-site
interviews with identified employees to obtain comprehensive
information about:
- organizational
structure
- organizational
direction
- systems
& processes
- employee
skill levels
- management
style
- other
areas agreed upon prior to the first on-site visit
- Where
appropriate, surveys for both employees and customers are
designed and utilized.
Presentation
of Findings/Recommendations
- A
comprehensive written report is developed to detail assessment
findings as well as recommendations for changes, goal setting,
and planning.
- This
report is presented first to the owner(s) and the top management
team. At a time deemed appropriate, it is then presented
to the rest of the organization.
Plan
Development
A
two-day, off-site retreat is scheduled for the owner(s) and
top management team to formulate a specific plan for setting
goals and developing action plans for achieving desired results.
Follow-up
Services
- Delineation
(in advance) of specific deliverables/services based on
your company's plan.
- On-site
consulting/facilitation/training. Objectives for each on-site
visit would be provided in advance and a summary report
issued within one week of the visit. Such services could
include, but are not limited to:
- Consultation
on implementation of organizational change and addressing
responses to that change
- Writing
of job descriptions, policies, procedures, manuals,
etc.
- Facilitation
of teams tasked with designing/redesigning targeted
processes, such as the "Lead to Execution"
process.
- Coaching
specific individuals in the area of managerial/interpersonal
skills.
- General
managerial training.
